Egyptienne Poster

This poster series is the culmination of a 4-part assignment: (1) researching a given typeface and it's corresponding historical and cultural context, (2) designing a 2D letterform combination typemark focusing on visual synthesis of form, (3) building a 3D version of the typemark and photographing it, and finally (4) three 16" x 16" posters were designed which presented the research and images of the typemark. They are meant to work together as a series and individually.

The font Egyptienne (and slab serifs in general) were named after an intense cultural fascination with all things Egyptian. Adrian Frutiger, the creator of Egyptienne, ironically, was not fond of the typeface and says: "To my eyes, Egyptienne is not a particularly important typeface."

Advised by Lucinda Hitchcock for Typography II class in Spring 2013, Rhode Island School of Design.
